The Stables Day Services
At The Stables, our Day Service in Bisterne, Ringwood we offer a wide range of opportunities designed to support people to develop and learn new skills, improve their confidence and knowledge, and build new friendships and support networks that help them to live more independent lives. Participating in meaningful activities and building positive
relationships supports positive mental wellbeing, which in turn has a positive impact on physical wellbeing. With access to beautiful outdoor spaces for leisure activities, our creative studios and our beautiful gardens where we grow and care for a wide range of plants, fruit and vegetables, The Stables offers something for everyone, all year round!
Championing Healthy Lifestyles!
Choosing healthier lifestyle options is good for everyone, but we know how important it is to support people with learning disabilities to make healthy lifestyle choices as being healthier and fitter supports their mental and physical wellbeing.
Our health and fitness programme offers a wide range of choice every week, including dance, yoga, walking, swimming, cycling, go-karting, and Zumba. We have outdoor gym equipment which is accessible all year round and people can participate in group games such as skittles, bowls and ball games, all of which support coordination and improved core strength.
Our horticultural programme supports people to be physically active whilst learning about plant care, how to grow plants, how to care for the growing environment plants need, and about the important role that plants and trees play in our natural environment and our own physical and mental health and wellbeing.
We also offer regular opportunities to participate in off-site activities, including cycling at Moors Valley Country Park, countryside walks in the New Forest, beach walks and visits to places of historical interest.
Therapeutic Activities to Support Good Mental Wellbeing
Everyone can benefit hugely from activities that support their mental wellbeing and we know that engaging with calming and relaxing therapeutic activities is proven to reduce anxiety and stress, improves concentration and helps people to feel happier within themselves.
Our therapeutic programme offers a wide range of creative activities and can cater for a wide range of support needs. The Stables has its own dedicated pottery room and kiln, where people are supported to create and decorate pots, plates, mugs and ornamental items, many of which we sell ibn our retail outlets. There is a dedicated woodwork studio with a lazer cutter, funded by a very generous donation from the J & M Family Trust, which enables us to support people to design and manufacture beautiful wood-based items, and we also have two dedicated arts and crafts studios where people can participate in numerous creative activities, including drawing and painting, block printing, mosaic work, and needlecraft.
Our team of instructors are very talented and creative, and support people to challenge themselves and find their inner creativity and expression, which has such a positive impact on their wellbeing. Discovering a talent for creating items from pottery, wood and other materials is one of the most amazing experiences for the people we support!
