Dragon Boat Challenge 2024

Saturday 8th June, businesses, groups, friends & supporters came together in teams at Poole Park to compete for the coveted title of Dragon Boat Champions 2024 whilst raising funds for 2 great causes Stable Family Home Trust – Supporting adults with learning disabilities & The Isabel baker Foundation.
The rain stayed away, the sun came out and everyone enjoyed themselves either by taking part or spectating from the quayside. Well done to all those that competed in the event including our SFHT teams ‘Up the Creek’ ‘Blazin Paddles’ & ‘Winning This’ who did a tremendous job and were all winners in our eyes.
Congratulations to Persian Empire who took home this year’s trophy with runners up Nourish & Enhanced Foster Care taking home the bronze.
Special thanks goes to Dragon Boat Events for putting on the event, to all the competitors who took part, our volunteers who go above and beyond, The Gym Tin, Pam Brown for her wonderful photos, our sponsors Forelle Estates, Fawcetts Accountants and Rejuvenate Group who gave our clients the opportunity to be part of such an exciting event and to EVERYONE who kindly donated.
All funds raised from this event are crucial to the longevity of our charity and continuing our essential work supporting people with learning disabilities.

Poole Dragon Boat Festival 2025

We proudly entered a team at this year’s Dragon Boat event to raise funds for our vital services and the wonderful people we support with learning disabilities. This was the first year of not hosting the event and it was nice to see other charities and companies taking part on the day.
Despite ominous weather warnings of storms, and the event being cancelled, the skies were kind to us, and the rain held off until the very end of the event.
Thanks to a great team effort from staff, clients, and the fabulous Rob Mangles & The Gym Tin, we achieved the fastest time in our 3 heats 01.35.42—earning us a spot in the grand final! With the threat of a downpour looming, we paddled hard, slowly running out of puff but finishing with an impressive third place and a medal. YAY!
A huge thank you goes to Dragon Boat Events for organising such a fantastic day, Fawcetts Accountants & Forelle Estates for sponsoring the boat, everyone who took part, the homes who came down to cheer us on, and especially KW, one of our amazing clients, for his incredible paddling efforts at the back of the boat.
We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated to our fundraising page so far but we want to reach our target of £1,000. We are currently at £922.50 which includes an extremely generous donation of £500 pledged by the Freemasons.
